I live in the school dorms… I have been living in the dorms for 3 years. I have a full scholarship for my school education, this included room & board. However, as much as I hate dorm living, I undoubtedly am stuck. I have to keep up my grades, in order to keep my scholarship. Recently, I have been unbelievably done with this way of living. There are tons of rules in the dorms, like you can’t have a hot plate. You can’t have a portable electric heater. You can’t have a window box air conditioner. It feels like a jail cell. But, the heating & cooling issue is over the top. The building has an aged boiler unit in the basement. The heat is unpredictable and inconsistent. If you aren’t in the building when it goes on, you aren’t going to even know it’s on! There is no air conditioner to speak of and windows that open only a tiny bit! I was really tired of going to the faculty for help to no avail, however finally there was hope. The resident advisor informed me, now that I am going into my third year, I am able to be a resident advisor, then when you get this work, you also get a private room in the building that has its own heating & cooling unit! Not only do you get a Heating, Ventilation plus A/C, but a little bit of money as well! I was totally overjoyed to get out of the dorm life. I filled out all the applications. I went to an interview & because my grades were so great, I was an instant hire. I am so excited to be able to turn on my own heating & cooling!
