This is the last time we call that Heating, Ventilation, and A/C service contractor to come and service our air conditioner. Every time we make an appointment with them, something goes wrong. They take forever to finish a task and charge much more than the other companies in the area. This Thanksgiving, we called them to come and look at our heater, but it had been making a different noise, and we wanted to make sure that it wasn’t going to break on us while we had company over for the feast. I made sure to schedule the appointment for early in the day so that they could be here and gone before our guests arrived, but nine o’clock came, and there was no service van to be seen. As the hours ticked by, I began to worry that this was going to end poorly. Thanksgiving lunch was at 2 PM, but knowing how this contractor worked, even a simple check up would take numerous hours. Ten o’clock came and still, no van. At long last, we saw the repairmen pull up around one0:30 AM. No apology, no excuse – they began to work at their familiar slow pace as if it was a normal Thursday. At noon, I went out to check up on them, and they said that there was a concern with the fan in the unit, and it would take them about another 3 hours to service it. You’ve got to be kidding me, right? This was bad news for Thanksgiving lunch. Both of us wouldn’t have a furnace the whole time they worked and the temperature outside was starting to drop. Both of us did the only thing we could do and called up the family members so they understood what was going on, and ask them to please dress warmly and bring blankets. It wasn’t until about 4PM when all the people settled down to watch the football game that we got our heating back. That’s it for me – time to find a company that isn’t so painfully unreliable!
