My wife and I have a deck connected to the back of our household. When both of us first purchased the lake house she dreamed of having endless BBQ’s and parties on the back deck, but personally, I dreamed of sipping my tea on the deck while watching the sunrise. However, both of us hastily realized that having a deck wasn’t as fantastic and convenient as both of us assumed… First off, it’s a lot of work maintaining a deck properly, because there’s consistently leaves and pine cones falling on top of it! It also becomes useless whenever it snows outside! Second off, we can only truly enjoy the deck seasonally. It’s too hot to use while in the summertime months, and too chilly to use it while in the Winter months! Technically, both of us only have about 5 or 6 months to use the deck. With our Christmas bonuses coming soon, my wife and I spoke about converting the deck into a nice sunroom. A sunroom wouldn’t allow us to have any BBQ’s, however we’d still be able to entertain and I absolutely would be able to drink my afternoon tea in peace. When both of us spoke to our HVAC supplier, she recommended that both of us connect our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C device to the current sunroom. Apparently, a lot of people think they don’t need any heating or air in their sun rooms, because they figure it will heat and cool naturally. While some sunrooms do heat up due to excess sunlight, ours wouldn’t receive much sunshine during the afternoon hours. Connecting our Heating, Ventilation, and A/C device to the sunroom would cost us more cash, however it would ultimately give us what both of us wanted. The two of us didn’t want to get stuck with a sunroom that both of us never used!
