Heating at the conference

I had a long journey south last weekend for a work conference, and they provided to let me fly to the conference. I however wanted to make the road trip, and it was 8 hours down south. This was in a completely new area for me! Flying is enjoyable as well as relaxing, but you miss so much of the beauty along the way. I left early the day before the conference, because I wanted time that night to get out and check things out. When I was about 40 miles away from my hotel, traffic came to a total stop. This wouldn’t have been so bad, if I wasn’t relying on the open breeze to keep me nice and cool. The A/C in my vehicle hadn’t been toiling for quite some time, but the breeze outside regularly cooled me down. After suffering without any A/C and sitting in traffic for 30 minutes, I turned on the boombox and listened to the local news station. The announcer said that a truck had overturned and spilled hundreds of gallons of oil everywhere on the road, and was currently taking up both lanes of the road. Officials were doing pretty much everything they could to resolve the problem, but the road was closed and I had been sitting for a long time without any A/C. This was the worst thing that could’ve happened to me! Here I was, sitting in 90 degree temperatures with thick humidity, trying to stay cool while crammed between a bunch of cars. I had to take off my shirt just to keep my upper body cool. I sat in the heat for about 5 hours, and didn’t make it to my hotel in time to get out and explore like I had wanted to do.
